We have about 400 periods in our lifetime but for many women discussing periods is a taboo, embarrassing subject. Our menstrual cycle can affect exercise and vice versa. While heavy, painful periods may force women to cease exercising for several days some women find that regular exercise helps alleviate these symptoms and even improves PMS. While attitudes and experiences vary many women struggle rather than ask for help.
