Life with a new baby is exhausting this section is not designed to make you feel guilty but instead reassure you that exercising is not just good for you physically but can be a great resource to help you through this challenging time.

If you find time to exercise it can can help your body recover after giving birth, keep you fit and also help you to relax by giving you some time to yourself. The postnatal period starts immediately following birth with no defined end point. By 6 weeks many of the physical changes of pregnancy have resolved themselves, and gentle exercise can help facilitate this. It takes a while longer to really feel you have got your old self back so be gentle on yourself. Pregnancy hormones like Relaxin continue to soften your ligaments for 5-6 months after birth so to avoid injury it’s important to take a measured, graded safe return to your usual or new routines.
