We have included this section because several exercisers I have spoken to have experienced similar difficulties in obtaining individualised advice regarding exercise post-surgery.

There tends to be a one size fits all approach, that doesn’t take into account women’s previous activity levels. Obviously women don’t want to jeopardise their recovery by initiating their previous routines too quickly but they also don’t want to unnecessarily lose the fitness they have built up. Ironically this ‘safety first’ approach from some health and fitness professionals runs the risk of them unnecessarily missing out on the benefits of exercise for no good reason.
